 Highlights

A championship quality course set within a picturesque valley, The Vidago Palace Golf Course is sure to please. Meticulously cared for by expert grounds keepers, the course consists of 10 par 4 holes, 4 par 5s and 4 par 3s over a total distance of 6,320m.

  • Front 9    Par 36    3,200m
  • Back 9     Par 36    3,120m

Hole 1    Par 4    395m

The original 1936 starting hole which, at one point in the course’s history was changed to the 2nd.  Now reinstated as the opening hole, the tees are adjacent to the original clubhouse building, the magnificent Fonte No. 3 (one of the grounds’ 4 mineral-water pavilions) which must be in the running for the world's most beautiful 'starters hut'.

Hole 4    Par 5    485m

Two original par 4 & par 3 holes were combined to create this challenging par 5 hole.  A stream runs along the right of the fairway and then meanders across in front of the approach to the green.  It’s tempting enough to try for the green in two but tricky enough to warrant a safer set up -  yet still with a birdie chance.

Hole 5    Par 4    420m

The view down the valley from this tee is pure Vidago, with the forest opening up to an expansive panorama of farmland and nearby villages.   There is a bunker directly in front of the green which calls for a good second shot into the green.

Hole 15    Par 5    530

Situated by Font Sales, another one of Vidago’s picturesque mineral water pavilions, hole 15 is a SI 5 which requires pinpoint accuracy - but there are some user-friendly bunkers to help you out should you stray too far right.

Hole 16    Par 4    365m

A SI 1, this dogleg uphill left with two levels of undulating greens leaves players with no room for error.  Two fiendish Mackenzie Ross holes have been combined to form what may well prove to be one of the most difficult holes on the course.

Hole 17    Par 5    525m

This is the course’s signature hole and without a doubt, the most striking hole in Portugal, overlooking the park, the Palace and the small chapel of Vidago village in the distance.  A strategic hole which could be played safe – or not!

Hole 18    Par 3    215m

A fitting way to end to a game played at Vidago, players can choose from 6 dramatic stone-walled tees which cascade down a steep slope into the trees:  A particular joy to behold.
