This engaging two hour activity was designed to arouse children’s curiosity about the natural world around them. Using non-toxic modelling clay, children will build moulds of Portuguese flora and fauna. They will be invited to observe footprints left by rarely seen animals such as wolves, badgers, foxes and squirrels and make moulds. They will also explore the textures of tree bark and leaves, using them to make collages. Their nature-inspired artwork can then be taken home as a special souvenir of their stay at Vidago Palace.
Those who remember Sir David Attenborough´s BBC nature programs will immediately connect to the emotion of exploring nature in an attentive and detailed way. This activity seeks to stimulate children´s curiosity towards this world, through the use of “grown-up” instruments, such as binoculars, telescopes, magnifying glasses, guides and nature logs.
Small is beautiful and children are fascinated by tiny details. Small birds or extraordinary insects like the praying mantis can be much more interesting when observed by young explorers through binoculars or magnifying glasses.
A wide range of additional activities can be arranged for young guests upon request. These include :
Painting
